The Theocratic War & The Bible
In considering the war on truth, or, the Theocratic War Strategy, the question is, do Jehovah’s Witnesses actually believe that speaking lies, half truths or giving any misleading information is actually a way of life for them. The answer must come not through opinion or another’s belief, but rather, must come from the Watchtower itself.
The Watchtower, page 286, May 1, 1957 “So in time of Spiritual Warfare it is proper to misdirect the enemy by hiding the truth. It is done unselfishly; It does not harm anyone; on the contrary, it does much good.
Today God’s servants are engaged in a warfare, a spiritual, a theocratic warfare, a warfare ordered by God against the wicked spirit forces and against false teachings.”
Also from the same page, “At all times they must be careful not to divulge any information to the enemy that he could use to hamper the preaching work”
They claim here that is “proper to misdirect,” the definition of misdirect is: to send someone to the wrong place or in the wrong direction. In other words, it is a lie. They state here, go ahead and lie, if you’re trying to cover up or protect your belief, then lying about the facts is perfectly okay, we are giving you the right to do so. You can rest assure that a statement beginning with any of the following will be finished with what may be a lie, an attempt to misdirect you from the truth of the statement. It is ironic that a group that has a nickname of “The Truth” finds it needful to misdirect by half truth, untruths, and via misdirection.
Watch for statements, sentences that begin with: Honestly: To tell The Truth: This Clearly Shows: What Must One Do: We Might Reasonable Assume: The Bible Plainly Says: Most Certainly: Most/Many Scholars: Has Clearly Shown: Isn’t It Reasonable To Conclude: Surely Then: We Have Clearly seen: Fine Examples: Truly: The Evidence Shows: Thus, We Can See: Apparently: The Evidence Should Be Clear: Obviously: Of course: As far as I recall: If you really think about it: What I remember is: Reasonably, Then: Logically: Possibly: Thus The Facts Make Clear: Justifiably: Probably: Surely This Is Reasonable.
Look also at the Watchtower of June 01, 1960 on page 352: “There is one exception, however, that the Christian must ever bear in mind. As a soldier of Christ he is in theocratic warfare and he must exercise added caution when dealing with God’s foes. Thus the Scriptures show that for the purpose of protecting the interests God’s cause, it is proper to hide the truth from God’s enemies”. And on the same page: “This would come under the term “war strategy,” as explained in The Watchtower , Febuary 1, 1956, and is keeping with Jesus counsel that when among wolves we must be as “cautious as serpents.” Should circumstances require a Christian to take a witness stand and swear to tell the truth, then, if he speaks at all, he must utter the truth. When faced with the alternative of speaking and betraying his brothers or not speaking and being held in contempt of court, the mature Christian will put the welfare of his brothers ahead of his own, remembering Jesus’ words: “No one has greater love than this, that someone should surrender his [life] in behalf of his friends” –Matt. 10:16; John 15:13
So the lying, misdirecting, half truths or silence under oath is a form of warfare to hide the actual facts and truth is sanctioned by the The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society itself. Yet the warfare does not cease at the court room, it continues at every door they approach. They truly do believe, the war is on, each one of their founding leaders all were found to be proven liars both while under oath in law courts and to the average so called “brother”. In doing so, the theocratic war is designed to:
- Erode trust and seed doubt in what one knows and believes. One who takes part in this warfare loses the ability to know what is truth, eventually believing the lie as fact and the truth as the lie. Confusion has them and there they stay until they are freed by the Spirit of God. James 1:5-7 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. New International Version (NIV)
- Show a lack of respect of the hearers faith and beliefs, and disrespecting the ability of God to speak to any other except a member of the governing body of the Watchtower. There is never good news that is attached to a lie, in fact, today, there is a new term that is attached to lying “fake news” and fake news is exactly what the theocratic warrior brings to you. Are you hearing Christ and His Word, or some man made doctrine? Romans 10:15-17 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”[a] 16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?”[b] 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
- Peaks your interest in the lie, but as your spirit recognizes the lie, it causes you to doubt, all they say, makes you to begin to watch for the next lie. We doubt not Christ, for it is His mercy that we gain eternal life, not a doctrine that may be seeded in a lie. Jude 21-22 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. 22 Be merciful to those who doubt; New International Version (NIV)
- It shows the selfishness of the speaker, at all costs protect the doctrines of the Watchtower, if questioned from within, disfellowship that person to silence them, if questioned from without brand them as an apostate or worse. Selfishness rooted from theocratic war leads to destruction. Perhaps a reading of Leviticus 19:11 “‘Do not steal. “‘Do not lie. “‘Do not deceive one another.” New International Version (NIV) would be helpful before you begin a conversation with them
- When they lose a battle in the theocratic war, they look foolish, but they still attempt to make you the fool by using words and splintered scripture in attempting to persuade you of the lie. Proverbs 10:8 “The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin.” New International Version (NIV) It is foolhardy to believe that lying in court should be the same as laying down your life for the The Watchtower.
- Of course a lie beget’s a lie, look at the Watchtower of May 1, 1957 page 285 “But hiding the truth, which he not entitled to know from an enemy does not harm him, especially when he would use such information to harm others who are innocent.” You are entitled to know the truth, why? Because you may use it to witness to a witness, so they heap lie upon lie. The Psalmist knew the character of the theocratic warrior, Psalm 5:9 “Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies.” Proverbs 14:5 “An honest witness does not deceive, but a false witness pours out lies.” New International Version (NIV)
The theocratic warrior must be trained in the warfare, thus the Watchtower has produced a myriad of books and articles for their indoctrinating purposes. They are after all a non-profit publishing company, The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, the name declares their purpose, publish books and tracts.
It is within these publications that they form and shape the minds of their warriors, whom they actually call “Publishers”. Look at this page from their “Let God Be True” book, the 1946 version:
IS THERE A TRINITY?
A FUNDAMENTAL doctrine of the socalled
“Organized Religion” is that
known as the “Holy Trinity” . It is accepted
as Scriptural truth and held sacred by
millions of men and women . The doctrine, in
brief, is that there are three gods in one : God
the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy
Ghost, all three equal in power, substance and
eternity . As defined by the Catholic Encyclopedia
under the heading “Trinity, The Blessed”,
“The Trinity is the term employed to signify
the central doctrine of the Christian religion
– . . . in the unity of the Godhead there are
Three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the
Holy Spirit, these Three Persons being truly
distinct one from another . Thus, in the words
of the Athanasian Creed : `The Father is God,
the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and
yet there are not three Gods, but one God .”‘
2 Such a doctrine, with the explanation thereof,
is very confusing, and to excuse it with the
word “mystery” is not satisfying . If one has in
mind the apostle’s words that “God is not the
author of confusion” (1 Corinthians 14 : 33), it
- 1. Define the “trinity” doctrine.
2 . What points are raised that are cause for doubt as to God’s
being the author of the doctrine?
The content of the page is an attack on what is known as The Trinity, we will look deeper into that later, what you need to see here are the questions listed on the bottom of the page. You most likely did exactly what they wanted you to do. Read the question, looked at the corresponding paragraph, and your thought becomes, well here is the answer.
1.Define the “trinity” doctrine.
Answer: The doctrine, in brief, is that there are three gods in one: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost, all three equal in power, substance and eternity .
2.What points are raised that are cause for doubt as to God’s being the author of the doctrine?
Answer: Such a doctrine, with the explanation thereof, is very confusing, and to excuse it with the word “mystery” is not satisfying . If one has in mind the apostle’s words that “God is not the author of confusion”
In this way, to the reader, the study is complete, there is no need to research any further, they gave the information, provided the question that you are to think, then directed you back to their opinion. The education complete, there is no need to go further, no need to doubt, for the answer is right there in black and white upon the printed page. Why would you need further, clearer information, they do not want you to research further. So each additional book or article written on any topic will confirm the doctrine, or, when it should be needful to change it, they will use the same technique to “sell” the change. It is all wrapped up in those little questions on each page of every book and Watchtower magazine published. The theocratic warrior knows those questions and has studied them, for they are the foundation of the indoctrinated. Warfare cannot be made against the non-believer unless those questions are asked and the Watchtowers answer is given as factual.
Teachers use the same technique in a grade school class, thus over time the teacher is forgotten, but the lesson never is. Memorable teachers are the ones that get their class to think beyond the lesson. This method of learning is a simplified style of rote learning. Rote learning is a memorization technique based on repetition. As a JW we were expected to study these publications in three of the five weekly “meetings.” Having checked the questions and finding the answer in the corresponding paragraph, confirming the knowledge we were required to have. Review, then review again, both question and answer, so that we would find approval when tested, and those answers flow off the tongue at the door.
The theocratic warrior will know the question, the answer, and will know the accompanying scripture that “prove” the answer. There is never another point of view, when one is put forward, they will quickly revert to the tried and true with a statement like “This scripture clearly shows that there can be no other answer than the one I am giving you.” Yet it is never just one scripture that proves a point, but all scripture must be considered. It must say the same from Genesis to Revelation: 2 Timothy 3:14-17 “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” New International Version (NIV)
The theocratic warriors know that they spend much of their time in the study of the scripture as interpreted by the Watchtower, therefore they have an upper hand in the war, for the average nominal Christian spends little more than Sunday morning church in scripture, making them ignorant to what the Word says, making easy targets for those who appear more knowledgeable. Yet, being fluent in false doctrine and confident in a mistranslated scripture does not prove to be the way of life. It is wise to have the Jehovah’s Witness at your door use a reliable version of scripture, instead of the New World Translation, make use of the King James (KJV), New International Version (NIV) or, New American Standard Bible (NASB) trusted, proven, and most assuredly reliable versions of scripture. Although they will debate you on the reliability, they are at your door or in your home, the decision to use your bible should outweigh their desire to use theirs.
No where is the theocratic warfare more visible than in the New World Translation of The Holy Scriptures, the Jehovah’s Witnesses authorized bible. In the theocratic warfare strategy, misdirection, is perfectly acceptable, therefore misdirecting via scripture would be in line with the Watchtowers way of teaching. It is, of course, very important to see what God says about changes, twisting or misinterpreting His Word, adding to, or, taking away from, or, just omitting parts thereof may not be welcomed by Him.
Revelation 22:19 “And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” And from Deuteronomy 4:2 “Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.” King James Version (KJV)
Therefore, if we are going to translate we need to be sure it is as perfect as possible. Why? Everything we are, everything we need, our very being is controlled by His Word, to change it, is to change the very direction of His intent for our lives. Should we change a section that could affect our being this would be considered a violation of His Word, on that He does not look lightly. As quoted above, His Word is the book of Life, how can we change and possibly negatively affect another’s life.
Proverbs 3: 1-6 “ My son, forget not thou my Law, but let thine heart keep my commandments. 2 For they shall increase the length of thy [a]days and the years of life, and thy prosperity. 3 Let not [b]mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them on thy [c]neck, and write them upon the table of thine [d]heart. 4 So shalt thou find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man. 5 ¶ Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own wisdom. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy ways.” 1599 Geneva Bible (GNV)
Although The Watchtower has tried to keep secret the translators of their New World Transalation, it is believed they were at least the following: Frederick W. Franz, Nathan H. Knorr, George D. Gangas, Albert D. Schroeder, Milton G. Henschel, and Karl Klein, none of these had any education in the ancient languages of Hebrew, Aramaic or Koine Greek, therefore it behooves one to ask? How is the translation one of trustworthiness? Can anyone, unskilled in these languages just translated a work as complex as the Holy Scripture’s? If I get my Strong’s Concordance and my Vines dictionary out, can I translate too, does it qualify me as one skilled for such a task, of course not. A translator must specially trained, having a knowledge of modern languages still does qualify one to translate the ancient languages. There is no record of any of these men being skilled in any of these languages, it is therefore, fair to ask how reliable is the translation? In the best light, this translation is a paraphrased version of scripture, more common paraphrased versions are the Living Bible, The Amplified Bible or The Good News Bible, all declare themselves as such, therefore the reader may use them with understanding it “may” help the reader in gaining insight as to what the scripture may be saying in a passage, yet, there may be some variance. More than anything, the New World Translation is more of a manipulation of the words of the Holy God in a bold and rather unholy way to verify the doctrine of the day. It is a written manifest, or verification for the theocratic warrior. Quoting a written untruth or a written half truth does not make it factual.
The errors are many and glaring, in some case they have omitted entire passages, which,of course, they have a perfectly understanding reason for doing so. The omission of passages are more likely that they validate doctrine that is in direct conflict to Watchtower doctrine.
Let us look a just a couple examples of these omissions (there are just too many to examine them all here.) One glaring one is: John 8:1-11 (The Adulterous Woman) 1 But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 Early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people were coming to Him; and He sat down and began to teach them. 3 The scribes and the Pharisees *brought a woman caught in adultery, and having set her in the center of the court, 4 they *said to Him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?” 6 They were saying this, testing Him, so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground. 7 But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court. 10 Straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” 11 She said, “No one, [a]Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more.”] New American Standard Bible (NASB)
For an organization that has shunned tens thousands through a process called “disfellowshiping” this passage of scripture is difficult for them to deal with. It teaches the most basic doctrine of the Christian faith, forgiveness. Here Jesus shows His very purpose of His ministry, forgive and bring no condemnation upon someone who has violated a command of God. A group of “sinful” men judging a person, they decide that a person are to be disfellowshiped for “conduct unbecoming a Christian,” they are quick to judge having no knowledge of John 8:1-11 and being unskilled in Matthew 18:21-22 which reads “Then Peter came and said to Him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus *said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.” New American Standard Bible (NASB) Omitting scripture to manipulate or confirm a doctrine is as much a “conduct unbecoming a Christian” as the sin that has caused weak men to destroy another’s life. It takes great and strong men to forgive, then take the sinner by love and lead them into the life and love of Christ.
Looking at yet another example of the theocratic war strategy to establish The Watchtower doctrine as fact when it is not:
NWT: In [the] beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the surface of [the] watery deep; and God’s active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters.
NIV: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
NASB: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.
KJV: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
As The Watchtower claims the is no trinity in the Godhead, (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) it becomes important in theocratic warfare to dismiss or eliminate the Spirit of God from performing His duties. They reduce Him to “an active force” my car is an active force, it has no ability of self awareness, nor can it create anything. Reducing the Spirit of God to an active force is to deny the very power of God Himself.
Let’s look a few “facts” about the Spirit of God: 1 Corinthians 12:11 “But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.” New American Standard Bible (NASB) The Holy Spirit has a will, an active force has no will, an active force can only be active in a place of containment, the Holy Spirit cannot be contained, having a the ability work out “all” things as He wills should give us great comfort to know that when we come to Him, He hears us, He give us what we need as He wills. Jesus said in the Lord’s prayer: Matthew 6:9-13
“Pray, then, in this way:
‘Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 ‘Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 ‘Give us this day [a]our daily bread.
12 ‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from [b]evil. [c][For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’] New American Standard Bible (NASB)
The Spirit of God is the one who completes this prayer, for it is He, who performs Gods will here on earth as it is in heaven. Whatever you may require, consider this, is that the way it is in heaven, if not then, pray and Spirit of God will perform Gods will here for you as it is in heaven. An active force can never perform such a feat.
How does He do it, not as an active force, but as a loving God who lifts us up and strengthens us when we are weak. Romans 8:26-27 (Our Victory in Christ) “In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groaning’s too deep for words; 27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the [a]saints according to the will of God.” New American Standard Bible (NASB) It is the Spirit that does these things for us, it is He who digs “deep” to find the solution to our situation, an active force can not this. An active force cannot think, but, the Spirit of God not only thinks but searches the mind so that the correct thought is what comes forth.
The Holy Spirit has emotions, an active force has no emotions, cannot feel, has no compassion, yet the Holy Spirit does. Ephesians 4:30 “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, [a]by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” 1 Corinthians 2:13 “which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, [a]combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.” New American Standard Bible (NASB) An active force cannot think, be grieved, or think, only a being can, that being here is The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has a mind, a will, and emotions, we know that He is a person in the triune Godhead.
Let’s look at just one more misdirect by the theocratic warriors. John 1:1
NWT: In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.
NIV: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
NASB: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
KJV: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
This also is an example JW’s use to disprove the Godhead theory, theocratic warfare is to reduce Christ to far less than what He truly is. The Watchtower is the only translation that changes God to a god, reducing Christ to a created being removing from Him His glory, His authority, His redeeming work.
In considering whether Christ is God, we need but go two verses later, John 1:3 “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” New International Version (NIV) Nothing came into existence without Jesus, should we be expected to believe that Jesus created himself, of course not, he personally declared His eternal existence when He stated in John 8:58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” New International Version (NIV)
Seven times He declared himself as the I am, John 6:35, John 8:12, John 10:9, John 10:11, John 11:25, 26, John 14:6, John 15:5, Each statement gives us a glance into God’s character as manifest in Jesus, He creates, He gives life, then He sustains that life. John 10:27-30 “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all[a]; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.” New International Version (NIV)
Paul shows us that Jesus, The Holy Spirit and Jehovah are so close that there is no division within them. 1 Corinthians 8:6 “yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.” 2 Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 13:14 “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” New International Version (NIV) There can be no doubt that the God is embodied in Christ, in the Father, and in the Holy Spirit.
In theocratic warfare the warrior will have a well rehearsed, convoluted, twisted way of misdirecting a person in an attempt to disprove the deity of Christ. Let the Word do the speaking, from Genesis to Revelation and all the books between show us the triune God. Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” New International Version (NIV) Who are the “us” well it was God, in three persons.
Theocratic warriors like to use Revelation 3:14 as a source to prove Jesus was a created being, let us break it down so we have the “truth” of the scripture. Revelation 3:14 “And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;” King James Version (KJV) The angel is not a heavenly being, rather the head or pastor or leader of this church, as were all the “angels” of the letters to the churches in Revelation. Laodicea means “people ruling” as compared to God ruling. This suits the The Watchtower, it is a “people” ruled hierarchy system (although they deny that stating it is a theocracy, God ruled system, we will look closer at this next time.) Be sure a “people” ruled system will be packed with faults and errors, if we walk in love and tremendous forgiveness we can operate in such and actually find what God would have us do. Until the return of Christ and His true theocracy all man made, man rule systems will be packed with problems, we just be sure they point to Christ and His living Word.
Next we see, in the verse “The Amen, the faithful and true witness” if you are seeking a witness, choose this one, He is the one who will lead you into life. Who is He, (certainly not a religious organization) He is Jesus Himself. Amen of course means “so be it” so whatever The Amen is stating, that will be the way it will be. Jesus gives Himself the title “Amen” for He is the final Word on all subjects, He answers and your problem with a solution from His Word and then declares “so be it” solution complete. That is the end of it, no argument, it is a certainty. The faithful and true witness, is one who is reliable in his testimony, His word is true and complete, there is no lie or variance. What He speaks is dependable, if life challenges you, seek the faithful and true witness and what He has said regarding your situation, His word is dependable and will always lead you out.
“The beginning of creation” here the theocratic warrior declares a “gotcha” moment, “See, see they say, the beginning of creation, Jesus was the first one created, it says so here.” What they cannot see that the content of the scripture here is the creator at work. In fact the word beginning is the word for source, the author or the efficient cause, it is not the marking of time or the start of an event. In other words, we can and should read “The source of creation” or, “The cause of creation” as Jesus is this Amen, the Faithful and Witness, He is also the creator. We see Him from Genesis to Revelation, there can be no doubt.
You can see The Father and The Son, Jehovah and Jesus found as the same in these many examples that follow:
God never changes:
Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Next in part 3, we will look at is the theocratic warrior part of a God ruled system or a man ruled system.
